Choosing Empowerment is a Virtual Mental Health Wellness & Resource Provider. I am a Master's level LPC, licensed in Texas and Louisiana, with over 19 years of serving the community in many capacities. I have used my time and talents to serve at-risk youth, developmentally delayed or disabled children and adults, and the mentally ill. I have worked with people from all walks of life. I have a passion for serving those in need and have done so by being an active part of programs that feed the homeless, being a foster/adoptive parent, and providing emotional support and sincere care for many children. I am eager to continue healing the community and providing counseling to those who are chronically underserved. Every day we make choices. Some of those choices are not our best choices but we make them based upon our experiences, knowledge (or lack thereof), thoughts and emotions. The mind is amazing, and our thoughts have power. I believe in the power of CHOICE! My goal is to help people remove the barriers that impact their ability to utilize positive thought. While we cannot always choose what happens to us and/or around us, we do have the power to choose how we think, respond, react and feel about it. Then we can make appropriate choices that will be beneficial to our wellbeing. Everyone can heal if they are willing, ready, and given the right tools and support. I am passionate about the African American community, Foster and Adoptive children and parents, Parents at risk of losing their children (CPS), Couples, Women, underserved communities, and fellow mental health professionals. I believe in the power of Choice and the Power of healthy relationships. Whether you just need to vent or need skills to manage mental wellness, I am available. My approach is primarily cognitive, relational, and solution-focused but my methods are person-centered and as individual as you are. A positive, healthy therapeutic relationship is vital to the healing process. We need to trust each other...after all, this is your treatment, your goals, and your life.
